The Rise of Melchizedek

By Jael Hodge

While in prayer a few days ago the Lord reminded of a lesson I taught in January this year. It is entitled “This is the year of the unveiling of the Melchizedek Priesthood”. I was reminded that we are in the year 2014 and in Genesis chapter 14 Abram met Melchizedek and at a very critical moment in his life.

July is the 7th month and seven means complete, all finished and rest (Ira Mulligan). The Lord then said that July would finish the reign of the Levitical priesthood in the global church and August will begin the reign of Melchizedek.

How do we know that August is when we will see the rising reign of Melchizedek like never before? David is the key to why I believe August ushers in the Melchizedek Priesthood. He was the 8th son of Jesse and the king who the Lord gave a prophetic vision of a priestly order greater than the Levitical:

Psalm 110:4, “The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.”

David’s life and revelations of the Melchizedek Priesthood is a prophetic signpost for the season we are about to enter. He was the 8th son of Jesse and the one rejected by his loved ones as seen in 1 Samuel 16:5-12. The church resists or rejects primarily through ignorance the Melchizedek priesthood, relentlessly clinging to the Levitical. However just as David was favored over his brothers to rule as king, the Melchizedek Priesthood was chosen from antiquity and favored by God to reign in governance of the church.

We are now in August, the 8th month of the year. The number 8 means put off (as in putting of “the old man,” i.e. the works of the flesh): Sanctify: manifest; reveal; die; death and new beginning. When something is put off or dies, it gives place for a new beginning. (Ira Milligan, Understanding the Dreams You Dream, Pg. 241)

The number eight gets its primary definition from the Old Testament practice of circumcising newborn males on the 8th day. Genesis 17:12 states:

12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.

So why did the Lord command that newborn males be circumcised on the 8th day of life? Here’s an answer found online:

“In 1935, professor H. Dam proposed the name “vitamin K” for the factor in foods that helped prevent hemorrhaging in baby chicks. We now know vitamin K is responsible for the production (by the liver) of the element known as prothrombin.

If vitamin K is deficient, there will be a prothrombin deficiency and hemorrhaging may occur. Oddly, it is only on the fifth through the seventh days of the newborn male’s life that vitamin K (produced by bacteria in the intestinal tract) is present in adequate quantities.

Vitamin K, coupled with prothrombin, causes blood coagulation, which is important in any surgical procedure. Holt and McIntosh, in their classic work, Holt Pediatrics, observed that a newborn infant has “peculiar susceptibility to bleeding between the second and fifth days of life.... Hemorrhages at this time, though often inconsequential, are sometimes extensive; they may produce serious damage to internal organs, especially to the brain, and cause death from shock and exsanguination” (1953, pp. 125-126).

Obviously, then, if vitamin K were not produced in sufficient quantities until days five through seven, it would be wise to postpone any surgery until some time after that. But why did God specify day eight?

On the eighth day, the amount of prothrombin present actually is elevated above one hundred percent of normal—and is the only day in the male’s life in which this will be the case under normal conditions. If surgery is to be performed, day eight is the perfect day to do it. Vitamin K and prothrombin levels are at their peak.”

Connecting the dots together we understand that July was the end of the Levitical reign over the global church and August, the 8th month, has ushered in the revealing, manifestation and reign of the Melchizedek Priesthood.

We read earlier that vitamin K is released at levels of over 100 percent on the 8th day in a newborn males life. How does this relate to the church? If the church is going to survive the cutting away or circumcision of the Levitical priesthood and not hemorrhage (lose people) we need some vitamin k or vitamin Kingdom of God!

People often resist change and tend to fall away when too much change happens too soon. The levitical priesthood (ritualistic and religious service to God) is what we are familiar with and many of us are unfamiliar with the Melchizedek priesthood. We will need to be taught kingdom principles (vitamin k) in this 8th day that will enable us to understand, appreciate and embrace the Melchizedek priest order of Christ.

The reign of the Melchizedek Priesthood is bringing the church into her finest hour of relevance and effectiveness in the earth.
